Albert Pujols Trivia Questions And Answers

Here are some more details on the answers (but only read AFTER you have taken the quiz). This will provide you with some more context on the answers that you got wrong.

1) What year was Pujols selected by the St. Louis Cardinals in the MLB Draft?

Pujols was selected by the St. Louis Cardinals with the 402nd overall pick (13th round) of the 1999 MLB Draft. Other big names in this draft class include Josh Hamilton, Josh Beckett, Barry Zito, and Brian Roberts. Albert will surely go down as the greatest player from this class and he demonstrates that you can always find diamonds in the rough during drafts.

2) How many times did Pujols win the World Series in his career?

Pujols won the World Series two times in his career. This was in 2006 and 2011. In 2006, The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Detroit Tigers, 4 games to 1 to win the World Series. In 2011, The St. Louis Cardinals defeated the Texas Rangers, 4 games to 3 to win the World Series.

3) Which of his World Series wins was Pujols named the World Series MVP?

The answer is neither as Pujols has never won World Series MVP in his career. This is because David Eckstein was the MVP of the 2006 World Series and David Freese was the MVP of the 2011 World Series.

4) True Or False: Pujols did NOT win the NL Rookie Of The Year Award.

This is false as Pujols won the award in 2001. For those wondering, Ichiro Suzuki won the AL Rookie Of The Year Award in 2001. Both of them would go on to have amazing careers.

6) Pujols and the St. Louis Cardinals lost to the Boston Red Sox in the 2004 World Series. How many games did the Cardinals win in the series?

7) True or False. Pujols hit more than 50 home runs in a single season.

The is false as Pujols’ career high for home runs in 49. This came during the 2006 season. As a result, he never hit 50 in a single season. He also came close in 2009, hitting 47 home runs during the year.

8) How many times has Pujols won the Gold Glove award in his career?

Pujols is a two-time gold glove winner (2006 and 2010). The award is given to the best fielder at every position in the MLB. Pujols winning this award twice shows that he won’t go down as just a great hitter, he was also a strong fielder as well.

9) Pujols had an INCREDIBLE game 3 of the 2011 World Series. Which is the only thing that he did NOT do during this game?

Pujols had 5 hits, 6 RBI, and three home runs during the game. He did NOT have a 1.000 Batting Average during the game as he went 5 for 6. As a result, the Cardinals won the Game 16–7 over the Texas Rangers. This will probably go down as the greatest game in his entire career, considering the stage it was on.

10) When was the final season that Pujols played for the St. Louis Cardinals before signing with the Los Angeles Angels?

Pujols’ last season for the St. Louis Cardinals was in 2011. He subsequently moved to the Los Angeles Angels in 2012 after signing a 10-year contract. He had the best years of his career with the Cardinals though so he will probably wear their logo in his eventual Hall of Fame induction.
