Stephen Curry Trivia Questions And Answers

Here are some more details on the answers (but please only read AFTER you have taken the Stephen Curry quiz). This will provide you with some additional context on the ones that you may have gotten wrong.

1) How many seasons did Steph play in college for the Davidson Wildcats?

The answer is 3 seasons as Curry left Davidson after his Junior year. His final season saw Davidson not even make the NCAA Tournament and Curry subsequently decided to go pro.

2) Where is the furthest that Steph went in the NCAA Basketball tournament?

Davidson lost to the Kansas Jayhawks in the Elite Eight in the 2008 tournament. The Jayhawks would subsequently go on to win the championship that year. Curry had an incredible tournament though, even being named the Most Outstanding Player of the Midwest Region. This was incredible because his team didn’t even make it to the final 4.

3) Where was Steph Curry selected in the 2009 NBA Draft?

The quiz answer was 6-10 as Curry was selected with the seventh overall pick in the 2009 NBA draft by the Golden State Warriors. Blake Griffin, Hasheem Thabeet, James Harden, Tyreke Evans, Ricky Rubio, and Jonny Flynn are the only people who were drafted ahead of him. Other big names in that draft include DeMar DeRozan, Jrue Holiday, and Jeff Teague. You should also check out our James Harden quiz to test your knowledge of his NBA career so far.

4) Curry finished as the runner-up for the NBA Rookie of the Year Award in 2009–10. Who won the Award that year?

The answer is Tyreke Evans, who averaged 20.1 points, 5.3 rebounds and 5.8 assists per game. Curry averaged 23.5 points, 4.5 rebounds, and 6.6 assists per game. Curry has had a much better NBA career than Evans but he will always have that over him.

5) What year did Steph Curry win his first MVP Award?

Steph won his first NBA MVP award for the 2014-15 season. The Golden State Warriors went on to win the NBA Championship that year, beating Lebron James and the Cleveland Cavaliers in 6 games. You should also check out our Lebron James quiz to test your knowledge of his career.

6) What number did Steph Curry wear at Davidson

This question was FALSE as Curry wore #30 at Davidson. He wears the number in honor of his father, Dell Curry who wore the number throughout his NBA career. Dell played 16 years in the NBA for the Utah Jazz, Cleveland Cavaliers, Charlotte Hornets, Milwaukee Bucks, and Toronto Raptors.

7) Which year did Steph Curry win the NBA Scoring Title?

The answer is 2015-16 where he averaged 30.1 points-per-game. Curry also won the NBA MVP award that season, becoming the first unanimous MVP in NBA history.

8) Does Steph Curry hold the record for the most points scored in a single round during the Three-Point Contest?

The answer is FALSE as the record is held by Devin Booker, who hit 28 out of 34 shots in 2018. Curry came close though as he hit 27 out of 34 in 2015.

9) Has Steph Curry ever won the NBA Finals MVP Award?

The quiz answer was none of the above as the 2015 Finals MVP was Andre Iguodala. The NBA Finals MVP in 2017 and 2018 was Kevin Durant. As a result, Curry has never won the award. This remains as the biggest piece of hardware that Curry is missing in his career. You can also take our Kevin Durant quiz to see how much you know about his career.

Some Additional Steph Curry Facts

Here are some extra tidbits that we couldn’t find any room for on our Stephen Curry quiz. This includes some notes on his younger days, his family life and his career earnings.

Steph Curry’s Younger Days

Here are some additional tidbits about Steph as a youngster:

Curry attended the Queensway Christian College in Toronto while he was in grade 8. This was because his Dad, Dell Curry, was playing for the Toronto Raptors at the time. Steph led the team to an undefeated season.

While living in Toronto, Steph also played for the ‘Toronto 5-0’ team and traveled all the way across Canada.

Curry originally wanted to play for Virginia Tech because both of his parents went to the school. This didn’t end up happening as they only offered him a spot as a walk-on. As a result, Curry went to Davidson and had a solid career for the University.

Curry is one of only 6 NBA players to come out of Davidson. That shortlist includes Dick Snyder, Fred Hetzel, Mike Maloy, Brandon Williams, and Rod Knowles.

Curry finished his college career as Davidson’s all-time leading scorer with 2,635 total points. This is really impressive considering that he holds the record and didn’t even play his Senior season.

On Twitter, Curry revealed that his favorite childhood memory was the time he got on stage with the hip-hop group, Kriss Kross.

Steph Curry’s Family Life

Here are some additional facts about Steph’s family and life away from the basketball court:

Most people remember Steph’s dad, Dell Curry, from his 16 seasons in the NBA. What you might not know is that Curry’s mom was an athlete back in her day as well. Sonya Curry was a standout volleyball player at Virginia Tech. Sonya and Dell met while at Virginia Tech and were married in 1988.

In an interview, Sonya revealed that she fines her son $100 per turnover that he commits during a game. Since Steph is competitive, he takes this as a challenge to try and keep his turnovers per low. At the end of the season, he buys his mother something with the money that accumulates from the turnover fines.

Most people also know Steph’s little brother, Seth Curry, who is also an NBA player. What you might not know is that their sister, Sydel Curry, played volleyball at Elon University. Sydel is married to Damion Lee, who currently plays for the Golden State Warriors.

Seth married his longtime girlfriend, Ayesha, on July 30, 2011 in Charlotte, North Carolina. They have three children together: Riley (born in 2012), Ryan (born in 2015), and Canon (born in 2018).

According to Forbes, Curry was also the 23rd highest-paid celebrity of 2019. Curry made more than mega-stars like Drake, Kim Kardashian, and Tiger Woods, which is pretty impressive.

In 2017, Steph signed a 5-year contract with the Golden State Warriors that is worth $201 million. As a result, he became the first player in NBA history to sign a contract that is worth more than $200 million.

Steph’s previous contract was a 4-year deal worth around $44 million.
