Wade led Marquette to the Final Four in the 2003 NCAA Tournament. They ended up losing to Kansas, who would subsequently go on to lose in the finals

Wade was selected 5th Overall by the Miami Heat in the 2003 NBA Draft. This is widely considered as one of the best drafts in NBA history with Lebron James, Carmelo Anthony, and Chris Bosh also going in the top 5. The biggest mistake was made by the Detroit Pistons as #2 as they selected Darko Miličić. They could have had either Wade, Bosh, or Anthony instead.

Wade attended Harold L. Richards High School in Oak Lawn, Illinois. Notable alumni includes Dave Dombrowski, Joe Montgomery, and John Cox.

In his book, Wade reveals that only four schools were interested in him due to academic problems. Those schools were DePaul, Illinois State, Bradley, and Marquette. Wade ended up going with Marquette.

Wade missed his entire freshman year at Marquette due to academic issues. He ended up redshirting that year but followed that up with two stellar seasons.

Here are some details about the money that Wade made during his career:

According to Spotrac, Wade earned $196 million during his NBA career. This is only his salary and does not include any endorsements or anything else off the court.

According to CNBC, Wade signed a $400,000 per year shoe deal with Converse after coming into the NBA. This was much lower than Lebron James, who made $13 million per year from Nike when he first came into the league. This was also much lower than Carmelo Anthony, who made $3 million per year from Nike in his first year.

In 2009, Wade left Converse and signed a new shoe deal with Jordan.
